Earlier this morning, gunmen attacked the residents of Obong Udo Ekpenyong, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Elder Aniekan Akpan, immediate past Commissioner for Education at Ikot Okusung, Ukanafun LGA, Akwa Ibom State, Kenworld Jumbo reports.
It was gathered by this reporter that parodic gunshots were hauled at their residents destroying valuables while three lives were reportedly lost in the process.
According to report, one of the Ekpenyong sisters (a Teacher), a barber and a family man were reportedly shot dead during the attack.
As at the time of filling this report, the names of the victims were yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, Men of the Force are currently manning the volatile area to ensure calm. Hence, Urua Affiong Market junction which leads to Ikot Okusung is currently on a siege by security operatives.
BAN ON THE USE OF MOTORCYCLES IN ETIM EKPO AND UKANAFUN LGAs FROM 6:00PM TO 7:00AM DAILY
This is to inform the General Public that Akwa Ibom State Police Command has ban the use of Motorcycles at Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun LGAs from 6:00pm to 7:00 am with effect from today 19/11/2017 till further notice.
This measure becomes necessary to tackle the rising tide of violent crimes, especially murder and kidnapping in the affected Local Government Areas mainly perpetrated with motorcycles.
The Command wishes to state categorically, that violators of this order will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The task of making Akwa Ibom State safe and secured is a collective responsibility; and together we can win the battle against Crime. Continue to support the Police to serve you better.
