Governor-Udom-Gabriel-Emmanuel - Akwa Ibom House jacks state budget by N6b

Why do we still have Transition (or Caretaker Committees) in our Local Government Councils? The reason is simple. Akwa Ibom  State Governor Udom is using these undemocratic structures to siphon the State’s funds.

He gives what he likes to the Councils; and even instructs them not to do anything apart from clearing the Council Secretariats. So if the Councils are not allowed to execute any project, why are they allowed to exist?

WHERE DO I START FROM?

This is the way I’ll like to go
If you must know….
– Gabriel Armattoe

For a long time now, I have refused to comment on any matter for reasons I will explain subsequently. I have deliberately starved my readers of Salient Points. They have longed to read my comments on the many lies going on in the Udom government.

They have anxiously wanted to read my piece on the divided house called the APC in Akwa Ibom State. The politics of Mobil’s relocation is another thing I deliberately disappointed my teeming readers over. For all of this, I am sorry!

Do I have to write … and always too? Whatever your answer is, I can tell you that mine is in the affirmative. My responsibility is to write; to inform; educate; hmmmph, perhaps entertain. But I can’t do the last one. Even if I do it, it is not always intentional.

One thing I came to realise is that entertainers are born, and if someone who is not a born-entertainer tries to entertain, he showcases his foolishness. Some people become clowns in their effort to entertain others. No wonder why Chief Godswill Akpabio is seen as a clown these days by many eyes. In the Senate, he tries to entertain, but turns a clown in the process. Can somebody tell me what Akpabio was sent to do in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?

Anytime I hear Governor Udom Emmanuel boasting about his passion to industrialize Akwa Ibom State, I become sympathetic with Akwa Ibom people, because their oppressor is here! Can a Governor talk about Industrialization when he knows nothing about industries? What is the fate of Peacock Paints? Truly speaking, nothing is going on there.

When Dr. Clement Isong (now late) industrialized the then Cross River State, especially this part now known as Akwa Ibom State, there was no media-hyping; no multitude of redundant aides; and no money, compared to Udom’ s era. But he brought Peacock Paints, Champion Breweries, Sunshine Batteries, a biscuit company, Qua Steel, etc. Thank God, both men (Udom and Isong) are from Awa Iman; and are bankers by profession. What differentiates them is sincerity and passion for development.

Another thing that stands Isong out (when compared to Udom) is his corrupt-free disposition. He had integrity and would not dent his image because of the craze for wealth and power. But can anyone in all honesty say the same about Udom?

Why do we still have Transition (or Caretaker Committees) in our Local Government Councils? The reason is simple. Governor Udom is using these undemocratic structures to siphon the State’s funds. He gives what he likes to the Councils; and even instructs them not to do anything apart from clearing the Council Secretariats. So if the Councils are not allowed to execute any project, why are they allowed to exist?

Udom Emmanuel swears-in newly appointed Local Government Transition Chairmen

Desperation for a second term is what derailed the Governor. Or was there any time he was on the rail? No. He started his second term campaign right from the very day he was erroneously declared winner by the electoral umpire. The day he was sworn-in was laced with his mistakes; and that was the day he pronounced to the world that he is indeed a stooge!
Governor Udom Emmanuel and his rudderlessness cannot detain us here.

But before I leave him for you to assess, let me quickly add that the only thing Governor Udom Emmanuel shares in common with late Dr. Clement Isong, is, and or will be, his inability to return to office for a second term. But I am not speaking as God.

I am saying this as a human being, because if the APC, and the only opposition Party in the State, fails to put its house in order, it will not be a surprise to see Udom walking back to the Hilltop Mansion majestically, to continue his kindergarten regime.

Udom can only win if the APC governorship ticket is not given to a real APC aspirant, because handing the ticket to a PDP decampee will not make any difference, since demons cannot fight demons.
