Build Up To 2019 Elections: Baba Ntan Draws Battle Line With Emmanuel Okon(Eminence Oil) … Uyo Youths Tell Fed House Rep To Forget Reelection
As the buildup to 2019 House of Reps elections continue to gather momentum, the member representing Uyo Federal Constituency Mr. Michael Eyong popularly called Baba Ntan has lashed out to Mr. Emmanuel Okon(Eminence Oil) to shelve the ambition to contest, advising him to face his business to avoid humiliation.
Michael Enyong advised Mr. Emmanuel Okon who is the CEO/MD of Eminence Oil and Chemicals to stop jumping from one party stakeholder to another for favours as he will fail when the chips are down, revealed the anonymous source proxy to the lawmaker.
But to add to Michael Enyong’s many headaches, the youths of Nung Obio Enang Community in Uyo where the lawmaker hails from, have stated point blank that their own would not have their support even as he has failed to get the power distributing company to fix community’s spoilt transformer situated just 120 meters away Michael Enyong’s family compound along Nung Obio Enang Avenue, off Idoro Road in Uyo.
According to a spokesperson for the youths, Comrade Nsikak Akpan, “the Nung Obio Enang community transformer has been bad since September and we had appealed to our son, Mr. Michael Enyong to use his influence as the House of Representatives member for Uyo Constituency to get the government or PHCN repair the transformer but all appeal have not yielded the desired result.
“Over 60% of residents of the community are non indigenes mostly Police officers working at the Mobile Police Base, Idoro and their families. The situation creates a wrong impression about government’s proactiveness and sensitivity to their plight.
Both Mr. Enyong and the State Government owe residents the duty to respond to the problem with the speed the situation demands in order to restore the people’s confidence that we still have a government that is proactive and sensitive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people”, he said.
Akpan stressed that the blackout has cut off the community from the rest of the world warning that they may not support Mr. Enyong in the forthcoming 2019 elections if he continue to pay deaf ears to the cry of his constituents who overwhelmingly voted him in 2015.
The youth spokesman called on the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, to come to their rescue in order to bring succour to residents whose businesses have suffered marked decline due to non availability of electricity in the area.
