2019: PDP State Chairman insists on Zoning *As Anietie Eka consults Party

Ahead of the 2019 general election, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Obong Paul Ekpo has stressed that the Party will not go back on its Zoning principle.

He made this known yesterday when the leading aspirant of the Uyo State Constituency seat, Hon. Anietie Eka paid him a consultation visit in Uyo.
He noted that the wish of the people has always prevailed in politics, and since the people of Uyo State Constituency have agreed that Anietie Eka should lead them, he has no power to object or turn down the wish of the people.

According to him, “when it comes to election, the decision rests on the people. I only stand to say who am I when the Lord has spoken? And the Lord speaks through the people. And so, if Uyo people rise and show the Party that the zoning rests on Etoi Clan, who am I to object?

The PDP State Chairman further urged the people to work in co-operation and shun betrayal, in order to ensure the successful emergence of their Candidate during the primaries, whjch he stressed, will be fair, peaceful and credible.

Speaking during his consultation visit, the leading aspirant for the Uyo State Constituency seat, Hon. Anietie Eka thanked Obong Paul Ekpo for upholding the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, he appreciated members of his campaign team for defying the rain to accompany him on the visit.

He officially declared his intention to contest and represent Uyo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly come 2019, adding that he will be a voice to both the people of Uyo and Akwa Ibom State in general; and he will drive the vision of Governor Udom Emmanuel, even as he assured the PDP helmsman of his unflinching loyalty and support to the Party.

Top political bigwigs in Uyo who accompanied Mr. Anietie Eka to the consultation visit included: The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Elder Imo Okon, who was ably represented by the Council Secretary, the Village Head of Etoi, the Director General of Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance (ACA), Mr. Andrew Uwanta, past and present politicical office holders who all insisted on zoning of the State House of Assembly seat to Etoi and Anietie Eka as the preferred choice and that the PDP Chairman should maintain that in order not to loose Uyo to any political party.
