A MESSAGE FROM AKAN WEEKS TO THE FAMILY MEMBERS AND LOVED ONES OF THE VICTIMS OF THE COLLAPSED REIGNERS BIBLE CHURCH BUILDING , UYO VILLAGE ROAD, UYO ON 10th OF DECEMBER, 2016
Calvary greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
My name is Akan Weeks.
It is with a heavy heart, laden with grief and empathy that I publish this message as a mortal being. But as an Emissary of our Almighty God, it is with a heart filled with praise and Glory to God that I remember today, Twelve Months ago, when our Church building (Reigners Bible Church, Uyo Village road) collapsed during worship service causing the death of our brothers and sisters in the Lord including our friends and guests who worshiped with us on that fateful Saturday, 10th of December, 2016, not excluding those that sustained various degrees of injuries.
I acknowledge the futility of words to sooth the hearts of the bereaved families. I am also conscious that though the pains of the injured and the burden of sorrow of family members, relations and friends of the departed cannot be mitigated or consoled with words and material representations but by the real-time knowledge and understanding that though we may never see our loved ones again in this period of time as they depart from our physical presence, I am certained as the Priest of the Almighty God that we shall meet them to part no more during the TOTAL REIGN of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ and to reign with Him forever.
I continually pray for a robust Grace of the Almighty God to sufficiently console the hearts of families of the departed and the injured during that tragic incident as I beseech my Heavenly Father to receive the dead with Mercy and grant their soul a special place at His Bosom. I pray also for the strengthening of we, the remnants’ faith and heart to remain steadfast in the faith and in the worship of our Lord Jesus Christ, eternally.
Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the State Governor, HE Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, who was present with some of his Cabinet members in that Worship Service as a Special Guest for his rescue initiatives that saved lives and gave succor to the wounded.
In the same vein, I thank the Nigeria Police Force, Red Cross, Federal Road Safety Commission and other Para-Military outfits, Planet FM, NGOs, and good spirited Nigerians who came to our assistance in one way or the other during the rescue process at the scene.
May God richly bless you all.
I will not forget to appreciate the immense contributions of our fellow Churches that fasted and prayed for us, particularly, Ministers of the Gospel, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the entire Christian Community.
As I soberly reflect on that fateful day, I thank everyone that has made life bearable in every little way for the bereaved families and the continuity of the kingdom of God’s Ministry.
Let us view the occurrence as a challenge to our faith and thereby resolve to hold fast unto our belief, faith and trust in our God, for even as the bodies of our loved ones have been lowered into the earth. As it is, their soul reside in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ who only, is able to destroy both body and soul but have hearken to our prayers and preserve their soul for eternity in His Glorious Kingdom Reign.
May the Almighty God grant us enduring grace as we, on this day remember our Fathers, Mothers, Uncles, Aunties, Brothers, Sisters and Friends who passed on in the presence of our Lord Almighty.
As we prepare to embrace a New Year, I pray that 2018 will be a year of great consolation, righteousness and progress in Jesus name — Amen.
May God bless you all.
