Akwa Ibom Politics: We Must Strengthen PDP In Eket LGA – Frank Archibong
The Chairman of Eket local government area, Hon. Frank Archibong has emphasized the need for party structures to be strengthen in Eket, calling on party officers at the chapter level with their respective wards to be more proactive in working assiduously for the success of the party at 2019 elections.
The Eket Council boss made this appeal when he played host to chapter officers and ward executive of the Peoples Democratic Party across the eleven wards in the local government area.
The Chairman who is also the ALGON Chairman in the State stated that for the party to succeed in 2019 elections, all hands must be on deck to strengthen the structure of the party at the grassroot level and the need for new members to be recruited to the party as only PDP dominate the political landscape of Eket local government area. He emphasized the need for the party to be more organized, calling for functional party offices to be located at all the ward for proper coordination.
The Chairman used the occasion to thanked the PDP officers in Eket LGA for standing with him during the local government election, promising not to let them down. He further enumerated some of his administration achievements in the past two months in office to include renovation of staff quarters, inauguration of Labour Committee, building of a befitting Council Hall for Eket LGA which the foundation ceremony will take place soon.
He also commended governor Udom Emmanuel for the numerous development projects in Eket, assuring that Eket people will continue to support his administration till 2023.
Mr Archibong called on party officers to help those who are up to the age of 18 to register in the ongoing Voters Registration Exercise as the only way to ensure victory of the party at any election is through PVC.
In his contribution, the political leader of Eket Senatorial District and former Minister, Chief Nduese Essien commended the party for the victory at the local government election, advising the council leadership not to wait for large sum of money to hit the ground running as the people are anxious to feel the impact of the leadership.
He expressed displeasure on why the outskirt of Eket from Ikot Usekong axis should be used for selling of coffin, saying that it does not speak well of the local government and therefore advised for relocation.
Earlier in his opening speech, the PFP Chapter chairman in Eket, ObongIwaad Emman Mbong commended the party for a good outing during local government elections, saying Frank Archibong was the choice of Eket people, hence is overwhelming support by the party.
He advised party members not to swear any oath as 2019 election draw closer, warning that such act is contrary to the values of the party. He noted that the party should welcome any aspirant that seek their support in the coming elections but advised them to cautious as the party hasn’t taken decision yet.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of Eket local government, Pastor Mrs. Aniedi Usoro, Councillors, Chapter Executive and Ward Officers.
