All may not have been heard of industrial action embarked by the National Association of Nigerian students NANS last week in uyo to force compliance to the official pump price of #145 a litre.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association IPMAN Akwa Ibom state chapter led by Mr Ubong Isong is threatening fire and brimstone to the revolutionary organized students body.
The leadership of NANS has been bombarded with calls through their agents to give up on the struggle or face severe penalty.
On his part, the PRO of NANS ZONE B, Comrade Mike Ibanga reinterate his commitment to the struggle and insist no amount of intimidation or blackmail will stop him and other Aluta soldiers from fighting for the right of students and Nigerians.
He cited that over the years that students has been in the forefront in the emancipation of the masses, recalling the Nigerian independence movement which was spearheaded by students prominent among them was Dr Azikiwe.
A cross section of students that spoke condemned the antics of the IPMAN chair and reinterate their resolve to endeavor that fuel are sold at the government regulated price.
They unanimously warn anyone involved in the artificial scarcity that the day of reckoning will soon arrive.
NANS PICKETS FILLING STATIONS IN UYO
The National Association of Nigerian Students carried out civil action in some selected filling stations in Uyo metropolis.
The civil action was led by the Public Relations Officer NANS Zone B Comrade Mike Ibanga to force compliance to Government regulated price of #145 per litre of PMS.
Speaking at the exercise Comrade Mike Ibanga reiterate that the masses particularly the Nigerian students are at the receiving end in the hike of fuel prices and NANS been a revolutionary organization can not fail to identify with the masses and call on relevant agencies to look at the plight of the citizens and do something to ameliorate their suffering.
A cross section of motorists who spoke express delight and pour encomiums on NANS for a job well done. Speaking further a tricycle operator name Okon Edet says that the hike has affected his business as passengers still insist on paying the old fare before the hike, and thank NANS for the opportunity given him and other motorists to buy the products at #145 per litre.
The committee also took the opportunity to pay a thank you visit to Honourable Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency Dr. Henry Achibong for his students empowerment program that took place earlier in the day.
The lawmaker thanked the leadership of NANS and promise to do more for the upliftment of humanity.
The exercise was witness by a cross section of the security agencies.
