Eket State Constituency 2019: ..Dr. Akata Consult Paul Ekpo, Says PDP Is The Best Party.

As drum beats for which zone in Eket should produce the next state house of assembly member after 2019 continues with echos of intrigues and political scheming which is almost outshining the ideal template.

The leading aspirant in the race for Eket State constituency ticket, Dr. Nsidibeabasi Inyang Akata; accompanied by some prominent political leaders and party stalwarts across the three geopolitical zones in Eket LGA on tuesday demonstrated his ernest desire to represent Eket State constituency by consulting the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo to officially declare his interest to vie for the state constituency ticket and to register the position of Okon-Eket before the party leadership.

Dr. Akata, in his consultation remarks acknowledged the giant strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel industrialization revolution which he said has given the state an edge over other states.

Dr. Nsidibeabasi assures of guaranteeing constant collaboration with Governor Udom Emmanuel led-administration efforts to provide for the state distinct dividends of democracy that will have positive bearings on every Akwa Ibomite.

Akata described the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as fair and pragmatic leaders leading by justifiable conscience.
He said the umbrella party is the best political platform with an embracing principles for anyone who desires to lead his people.

Dr. Akata’s entourage was led by Chief. C.H. Isong; DG of Akata’s campaign team, Dr. Samuel Udosak, a one time guber aspirant, Mr. S.I Akpadia, Hon. Ayang Ayang; former state House member, Obong Kingsley Etop, Prof. Ebitu and Obonganwan Jane C . J. akpan.

The state house hopeful earlier have promised the people of Eket robust legislative engagement that will translate into effective legislative representation with unimpeachable legacies.

It is gathered that top on the agenda of the meeting was the official declaration of interest by Dr. Nsidibe Akata and the issue of zoning as it affects Okon-Eket geopolitical zone.

The close door meeting provided ample opportunity for leaders in Eket to properly brief the state chairman on the existing zoning arrangement on Eket state constituency which is said to be favourable to Okon-Eket geopolitical zone.

It could be recalled that the director general of Dr. Akata’s campaign organization, Chief C. H. Isong; at the Eket party secretariate during the team’s consultation to the party leadership in the chapter had informed that the choice to support Nsidibe Akata is prompted by the leadership charisma, passion and intellectual prowess of the later.

Chief Isong was quoted to have submitted that abiding by zoning is to enthrone equity, justice and fairness over greed and selfishness.

Obong Paul Ekpo, in his response is said to have been amazed on seeing the caliber of stakeholders lined up in support of Dr. Akata.

Our source who spoke on account of annonimity hinted that the state chairman commended the campaign team of Dr. Nsidibe Akata for keeping to time despite short notice.

He said that Obong Ekpo emphasised that the party leadership at all levels will adhere to zoning during party primaries to indicate that PDP is ready to lead without compromise to ensure zoning formula is sustained.

Some of the top brass decision makers due to their pre-engagement and involvement in the constituency briefing / empowerment programme of the member representing Eket Federal constituency, Hon. Mrs. Ekpotai that could not meet up with the appointment due to the short notice approval given by the PDP State Chairman.

The elders however called the state party chairman to reaffirm the position of Eket elders on the aspiration and acceptability of Dr. Akata. The elders include Elder Nsetang, Otuekong Joseph Ubokudom, Grp. Capt. Eno, Gen. Anthony Etukudo, Akpan J Umana, Chief Assam Usoro. Lord U. Etuk; and Prof. Akpan who are currently out of the country.

The elders however unanimously reiterated their total support to return His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel for second term stating that Dr Akata is indeed the choice of Eket people.
