The Court of Appeal has today confirmed Obong Bassey Albert as the duly nominated candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in the 2014 primaries for the Uyo Senatorial District.

Reacting to the ruling, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson has congratulated Senator Bassey Albert and the people of Uyo Senatorial District on the victory.

He has also commended the PDP and the leader of party in the State, Governor Udom Emmanuel for promoting the interest of the party.

Barrister Ekong Sampson hailed the judgement of the Appeal Court, which set aside the lower Court’s judgement, stating the judgement has marked a major setback to legal adventurism and political fortune seeking.

The Special Adviser commended the Appeal Court for upholding the confidence of Nigerians in the judiciary and strengthening the country’s democracy.

Ekong Samson urged Akwa Ibom people to turn out in their numbers to participate in the December 2, 2017 local government elections, assuring them government commitment to a violence-free, credible elections.

According to Ekong Sampson, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel is a true democrat, committed to entrenching the truest values of democracy in the State and making Akwa Ibom a leading example of democracy in Nigeria.

Barrister Sampson reiterated that the voter’s card is the only acceptable tool to participate in the December 2 elections.

He charged the people of the State to exercise their franchise with confidence that their vote is their power. He assured that the government has put everything in place to ensure the safety and security of the people throughout the duration of the exercise.
