Engage Youths Positively And Curb Insecurity – Akwa Ibom Speaker
The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Barrister Onofiok Luke has reiterated that positive engagement of youths in the state is easiest way to curb insecurity in the state.
The Speaker stated this during the 4th Annual Business, Technology and Creative Festival of Root hub Accelerator Systems held at Root Hub/Akees Plaza along Ibb Avenue, Uyo where he acted as chairman of the occasion.
According to him, “You can quote me anywhere; if you don’t engage the younger generation today, then we are in trouble tomorrow and the issue of insecurity in the state can be curbed through positive engagement of the youths.”
Barr. Luke also thanked the participants at the festival for putting up great exhibitions charging them to continue to think positively and remain creative and innovative as this will help put food on their table considering the dearth of white collar jobs while thanking Roothub for being an incubation center which will help shape ideas like theirs.
“I want to charge you all to be creative and innovative as it will help put food on your table especially now that white collar jobs are no more and I see a bright future in all of you and I must commend Roothub for being an incubation center for sound minds like yours”.
The Speaker further admitted that the major challenge faced by potential entrepreneurs is finance but through an interaction with the executive, the legislature which he presides over was able to come up with the Akwa Ibom State Youth Development Fund Bill and the purpose is to create funds accessible to young persons in the state to encourage innovations.
Barr. Luke also revealed that he came up with a mentorship hub which consists of people of different professions and through his support they are all successful in their work especially a fellow who produces the sandals and shoes he puts on adding that his colleagues were amazed that such quality products can be manufactured in the state.

“It is because of what I see today that made me organize a mentorship hub where pharmacists and people from other profession benefit from and they are all successful and I want to reference the boy that produces the sandals and shoes that I wear and I must tell you that my friends were amazed when I told then that they were manufactured here in the state”, he added.
