FALL OUT OF DEFECTION!AKPABIO PLOTS ARREST, PROSECUTION OF NSIBIET JOHN, TOROBONG EKPO

The attention of the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Godswill Akpabio, has been drawn to publications in the social media by Torobong Ekpo and Nsibiet John, purporting that Senator Akpabio made some uncomplimentary remarks about the Ibibio Nation in Akwa Ibom State.

According to them, Senator Akpabio had said that “no Ibibio man will rule Akwa Ibom State for eight years after him.” And that Senator Akpabio had also vowed that “Nsima, Umana, Udoedehe can only be Governor of Akwa Ibom State in another world, not while I am alive.”

These malicious publications are posted on Mr Torobong Ekpo’s and Nsibiet John’s Facebook walls and shared across many WhatsApp groups.

Similarly, they had also caused the publication of another tissue of lies that Senator Akpabio had ordered the freezing of the account of Akwa Ibom State Government by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

We wish to state here categorically that, at no time did Senator Akpabio in his private and public discussions uttered these profanities and indeed any disparaging comments against any tribe. Neither is he instrumental to the freezing of the account of the state government as he has no such powers.

We suspect that the intention of the writer is to incite the public against Senator Akpabio by deliberately publishing these falsehood.
We, therefore, urge the public to disregard the said publications in their entirety.

We demand that Mr Torobong Ekpo and Nsibiet John, should immediately withdraw these inflammatory publications within the next 48 hours and tender an unreserved apology to Senator Akpabio and desist from further criminal defamation of the character of the Distinguished Senator.

May we state that failure to apologize and withdraw these tissue of lies will lead to legal action which shall include action bordering on criminal defamation of character and incitement of ethnic conflict.

They should note that no amount of lies and falsehood can redeem a political sinking boat.

Akwa Ibom people are wiser and therefore, cannot be fooled by ethnic bigots.

Signed:
Jackson Udom,
Special Assistant Media, to the Senator and former governor of Akwa Ibom State.
