Gunmen abduct two in Akwa Ibom Church
No fewer than two persons have been abducted by unknown gunmen at New Full Gospel Church of Nigeria, Ikot Inyang Abia, Ukanafun Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
A reliable source confirmed the abductors, over the weekend, stormed the Church, midnight, and shot sporadically into the air, before whisking away their victims.
The victims were allegedly seeking refuge in the Church owing to the lingering security crisis in the area but were nabbed following leakages.
Their whereabouts as at Sunday morning, remained unknown as the abductors were yet to contact their families.
Meanwhile, A journalist, Edifon Solomon is responding to treatment at a private hospital having sustained injuried from a gunshot in a church yesterday evening in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital.
Solomon is attached to the office of the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Political and Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Barr. Ekong Sampson.
The incident occurred at Christ Apostolic Church, off Ikot Ekpene Road, where Solomon and his family went for evening service.
Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Odiko MacDon said investigation into the matter has begun.
