The Vice Chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Itu Local Government Area; Mrs Emem Ekpanya has declared that she will not disappoint her people when elected into office. She made the pronouncement on Thursday while addressing the people of Itu ward 1; in a meeting held at her hometown – Ikot Abiyak, in Oku Iboku.
Mrs Ekpanya used the opportunity to thank the peope of Itu and Oku Iboku Clan for their unflinching support and charged them to continue supporting the party and thier candidates in the forthcoming elections into the third tier of government.
“My nomination as running mate to Barr Etetim Onuk is a blessing to ward 1 and I will ensure that my people reap the dividends of democracy. However, if we must succeed as a team, our bond must be stronger and our loyalty to the party absolute. I must say that i am impressed with the large turnout in today’s meeting and i promise to reciprocate your support with visible developmental policies and projects.” Ekpanya declared.
The Chapter Chairman of the PDP in Itu, Mr. Victor Okon advised her to remain open and accessible to followers and urged her to be carry all along in the scheme of things, he particularly made a case for those who aspired for different positions before the primaries, and reiterated the party’s resolve to ensure all their candidate win in their respective elections.
The PDP Chairman in the ward, Mr. Bassey Bassey Ikonee said the area has been dominated by the party and that they have no plan to relent and promised to ensure all candidates of their party come out top.
Mr. Ability Emah, a Party stalwart and Chairman, Oku Iboku Clan Council had this to say; “PDP is the only party that is alive today and we have decided to mobilize votes for the Etetim Onuk/Emem Ekpanya ticket and Helen Nta as our representative at the local government legislature.
Hon. Effiong Ita Emah and Hon. Ita Uwat, both former chairmen of Itu reaffirmed their loyalty to the party and restated their faith in the party’s candidates. The duo guaranteed party faithfuls of their commitment to the success of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The PDP women leader in the ward, Comfort John Andem who also assured her of ‘total victory’ in the December 2 polls, she used the opportunity to appeal to those who are yet to get voter’s card to rush to the nearest centre and do the necessary documentation.
