LG Polls: APC’s Concession statement

Yesterday, the entire world listened to the concession speech by the opposition All Progressives Congress Akwa Ibom chapter as read by Sen. Aloysius Etok buffeted by their party’s hierarchy. In their statement the world gleaned that they are yet to flag off campaigns at the state or in any local government area, less than 3 weeks to elections; they had not commenced marketing their councillorship and chairmanship candidates to the electorates among other failure indicators. They however made a dramatic twist when they placed the blame for their impending failure at the doorstep of the ruling people’s Democratic Party. It is true that a bad workman blames his tools for his failures. A popular musician had captured the situation of the APC properly in a song entitled “blame the other man” and I think that the APC which has buck passing as its core political strategy, adhered religiously to the admonition in the song. In the said statement made by a presumably responsible person, logic was stood on its head when it was alleged that AKISIEC will declare election results at Government house and other inconsistent stories fit only for tales by moonlight script. These allegations are most irresponsible, illogical and baseless as the facts available to the public, point to a different direction. These allegations can only emanate from lazy minds overtaken by frustration and exit from power. They complained of not being carried along by AKISIEC but they forgot to mention that they have constantly walked out or absented themselves from meetings convened by AKISIEC. They have also forgotten to inform the world that they were in court seeking to stop they elections and therefore couldn’t prepare for an election they earnestly wanted to truncate. As a party, the Peoples Democratic Party in the state has been working very hard in preparation for the elections. As we speak, we have finished full campaigns in 16 local government areas and still counting, in addition to the door to door engagements by our councillorship and chairmanship candidates. I therefore call on all responsible persons to ignore the alarmist cry of the APC and to advice them to leave the media space and meet us on the political turf where elections will be determined. Meanwhile, may I return to the campaign venue at Oruk Anam, ukanafun and Abak, where jubilant crowds await us. Comrade Ini Ememobong, ANIPR State Publicity Secretary Peoples Democratic Party Akwa Ibom state chapter
