AKWA IBOM GOVERNMENT HAS NO PERCENTAGE IN SYRINGE FACTORY -MD ZUBEYIR GULABI
Contrary to rumored news making the rounds in the state, Thekillerpunch investigation has revealed that there is no mosque in the premises of the Jubilee Syringe Factory, Onna, Akwa Ibom State.
In an on the spot visit to the Syringe Factory on Friday, February 2, 2018, where the Chief Security Officer of the company conducted a team of Journalists round, nothing of such was found.
Speaking with some of the staffers of the Jubilee Syringe Factory, Mr.Jide, who is a Muslim said, he walks two kilometres away from the company’s environment to worship in a mosque outside. He queried why he should walk such distance, if there is a mosque in the company’s premises.
The Managing Director of the Jubilee Syringe factory, Mr.Zubeyir Gulabi, said, the allegations are unfounded.
He said, we are not here for religious purposes, we are here for business. So far, we have sent indigenous Engineers for training in Istanbul, Turkey, and has fully implemented and gone beyond the requirements of the local content policy of the Federal Government, with ten percent of expatriates, sixty percent of community indigenes, twenty percent of Akwa Ibomites, and ten percent of Nigerians, but at the moment, there are only four expatriates and there are no plans to increase the number.
He also reacted on the allegations of working on Sundays, saying, there was a notice last week for workers to come to work, due to the training they were to receive from the expatriates that came to train workers.
He asserted that, the company abides and implements labour laws to the fullest.
We are on a testing period, and will begin full production in two years from now.
The Jubilee Syringe factory is one hundred percent a foreign direct investment.
The government has no percentage in the company. The MD was quoted as saying.
Also speaking, the CSO, a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police, said, since assumption of duty last year September, there have been no trace of mosque found in the company. He said the allegations were absolutely false.
Also speaking, the Media Consultant of the company, Godwin Akpan advised that issues relating to the company should be verified through appropriate channels, before going to the press.
