‘NO WAY BACK’ Louise and Jamie Redknapp to divorce after realising they can not save their 18-year marriage.

The former Strictly star, 43, and the footie pundit, 44, have barely seen each other since she moved out of the family home seven months ago

JAMIE and Louise Redknapp are to divorce, The Sun on Sunday can reveal.

The pair realised they could not save their 18-year marriage after spending so much time apart in the past year. 'NO WAY BACK' Louise and Jamie Redknapp to divorce after realising they can not save their 18-year marriage.

The Strictly star and the footie pundit, 44, have barely seen each other since, as she tries to carve out a stage career.

A source close to the former Strictly runner-up said: “They have come to a mutual agreement that divorce is the only option.

“Louise has filed the paperwork and there’s no going back.” It means the marriage is officially the latest victim of the BBC dance show’s infamous curse.

The source close to Louise said: “She claims Jamie hasn’t been supportive of her stage career but the reality is that she completely changed after appearing on Strictly last year.”

The couple are expected to reach amicable terms over the custody of their two sons, who have been living with Jamie.

Louise has been renting nearby in Oxshott, Surrey. Last week she was in Ireland starring in Cabaret, which has been touring for three months.

She had previously been on the Strictly UK tour for nine months. The ex-Eternal singer is also trying to relaunch her pop career.

Louise’s team are now deliberately briefing that she blames the divorce on ex-England footballer and Sky Sports pundit Jamie not being supportive enough of her career.

A source in her camp said: “Louise tells everyone who will listen that Jamie didn’t like her being back on stage, that he wanted her to be a wife and mum first.

“But he has told her he is stung by the accusation.”

Jamie turned up at every live Strictly show with his parents to support Louise and his friends are puzzled by her reaction.

He and Louise will now likely spend Christmas apart.

A League of Their Own star Jamie, estimated to be worth £15million, took off his wedding ring a few weeks ago.

A source said: “Jamie has moved on now. He is just concentrating on being a great dad to the boys, taking them on holidays, doing the school run and being there for them.

“He is deeply saddened things have ended this way but he’s getting on with work.

“He is out and about again with his friends and having a laugh.”

The friendship between Louise, second from left, and model Daisy Lowe, second from right, is said to have caused problems

The source added: “Louise worked throughout the marriage — as a TV presenter, talent show judge, lingerie model and brand ambassador — with Jamie’s full support.

“But since Strictly she has become totally obsessed with becoming a pop and West End superstar. It is her entire focus.”

The Sun revealed in April that the marriage had been on the rocks following Louise’s stint on the Strictly tour alongside her new friend, model Daisy Lowe.

The source said: “She toured with Strictly, then moved out of the family home, then went away with the Cabaret stage show.

“In all that time Jamie has been the dream dad.

“She has put her career first and he has allowed her to do that, which was always the case.

“But of course he has to continue to work and remains the main breadwinner with his work at Sky.”

Louise’s mum Lynne Nurding and Jamie’s parents Harry and Sandra Redknapp are said to be devastated by the marriage’s collapse.

An insider said: “Lynne is gutted. She’ll always support her daughter but she’s worried about the future.

“She is very close to Jamie and can’t work out what’s going on. Harry and Sandra hoped things would work out but it wasn’t to be.

“Louise seemed determined to walk away from her old life.”

Jamie has refused to comment publicly on the marriage, even after his estranged wife spoke to a magazine about their breakdown.

She may rue split

JAMIE and Louise were seen as one of the entertainment industry’s most enduring and glamorous couples.

Each Saturday Jamie traipsed to the Strictly studio to support his wife, who saw the show as her way to return to the spotlight.

But since separating she has been hell-bent on portraying her time in the marriage as a Stepford Wife.

By most accounts, Jamie had no issue with Louise focusing on her career.

For much of the year he has looked after their boys while she toured.

Louise may wonder if she’s made a mistake when the gloss of her Strictly experience fades.

As of today Jamie is again one of Britain’s most eligible bachelors.

She said: “I became a sort of Stepford Wife, wanting to be perfect at it. I realised I couldn’t go back to that.

“I wanted to sing, to perform. I felt physically sick at the idea I’d never have that buzz again.

“I’ve spent most of my life pleasing everyone else, thinking I should always do the right thing by staying at home, looking after my kids and my husband. I lost myself.”

Louise has dropped M&C Saatchi, the agents she shared with Jamie.

She has also sold her Wild About Beauty make-up brand, after it racked up £1.7million of losses.

She will perform at London club GAY on New Year’s Eve as she bids to relaunch her chart career. And she plans to tell of her marriage woes in new music.

Louise had shrugged off the Strictly “curse” talk when she signed up for the show last year.

She said: “After so many years, it’ll take more than Strictly and a sparkly leotard to cause problems!”

In another chat she admitted Jamie had taken a surprising interest in the show.

Louise, who was paired with pro dancer Kevin Clifton, said: “When I first started I thought, this is so not up Jamie’s street.

“I thought I’d go to work, do my thing. But every Saturday he’s in the front row.

“He said, ‘I think this is going to be great for you, get back out there, show everyone who you are’.

“It’s really nice to see someone you love extremely proud of you.

“It takes me back 20 years to when we met and I was on stage. All good things come from Strictly!”
