PDP secretariat rent crisis: Emmanuel Salvages Party, Fetes Constituency
In his avowed show of concern and commitment to his Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the member Representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Local Content, Mr. Emmanuel Ekon during the week intervened in what could have resulted as an embarrassment to the Party in Abak and Etim Ekpo as he graciously offset the rent of the party secretariat to the tune of Two Hundred Thousand Naira each where prior to the intervention of the front line lawmaker, the party secretariat in both Local Government were almost ejected by the landlords owing to the inability to offset the annual rent.
The lawmaker who was touring the Local Government Areas where he hosted party officials and constituents was accompanied by eminent leaders of the party drawn across the constituency.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, the lawmaker paid glowing tribute to the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel for managing the affairs of the state despite the economic downturn and called on youths not to mortgage their future for petty politics. ‘If not for anything, we should at least be grateful to our amiable Governor for ensuring prompt payment of salaries, compared to the other states.”
Speaking to party faithfuls across Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Mr. Emmanuel Ekon admonished youths to shun violence and desist from being tools in the hands of desperate politicians.
Shortly after addressing party faithfuls, the lawmaker announced the donation of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) and 10bags of rice each to PDP chapter in Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika; 10bags of rice and One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira (N160,000) to each of the 31wards in Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika Local Government Areas.
Speaking further, he stressed “In my leadership as Chairman of House Committee on Local Content, I have been able to train up-to 400 youths from the constituency” and announced that “with effect from January, I’ll ensure of the training of one engineer per ward across Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency.”
Reacting to the development, the PDP Chairman in Abak Local Government, Dr. Michael Dan Udo, thanked the lawmaker, saying the gesture would put smiles on the faces of the constituents.
In the same vein, the Chairman of Etim Ekpo Ward 10, Mr. Emmanuel Imauyo, who responded on behalf of other chapter executives in Etim Ekpo equally expressed delight with the lawmaker for demonstrating warm affection for his constituents.
Their counterparts from Ika PDP chapter, Mr. Iboro Nelson Udoekpo (Chapter Chairman) and Obongawan Mary Udoekpo (Women Leader) commended the efforts of Mr. Emmanuel Ekon for reaching out to his people. Youth leaders across the federal constituency also expressed their excitement that Ekon has once again demonstrated that he is a leader of youths.
