Udom Emmanuel should not come to Ibiono Ibom for campaign

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Comrade Ini Ememobong has told the Governor of the State, Mr Udom Emmanuel not to come to Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area for campaign.

Ememobong, who is currently the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State said instead of coming to campaign in the area, the governor should come for a reception.

Ememobong, a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria stated this during the PDP Local Government election tour in Ibiono Ibom LGA.
The former Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters said that when the governor came to campaign in Ibiono Ibom in 2015, he told him that when he develops and takes projects to ONNA, he should do same in Ibiono Ibom.

The former students leader said that after over two years in office, the governor has not disappointed the people of the area.

Speaking further while giving his goodwill message during the campaign tour, the PDP spokesman said the PDP in Ibiono Ibom Local Government “encourages the elders and grows the young people. Our chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates are young persons and we will vote them into office as the Executive Chairman and Vice”.

One of the chairmanship aspirants from the area who lost at the PDP primary, Ndueso Akpan (Pandu) said after losing at the PDP primary, “we had to swallow bitter pills with smiles.

After contesting and losing, the aspirants are still together and in the party. We will continue to support the party to victory.”

Elder Ntieyong Inyangmme, former State Secretary of PDP, said the party will win overwhelmingly at the polls. He said the Local Government is the biggest in the state, and will show its strength in the forthcoming LG election and other elections, but requested that the governor should reciprocate the gesture by bringing more developments to the area.

Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Dr Iniobong Essien, said that the Ibiono Ibom Chapter Publicity Secretary of the APC has joined the PDP fold.

He told the party chairman that he should get ready for celebration as the party will win convincingly at the forthcoming polls.

Also Speaking, Member of AKHA, Barr. Ime Basy Okon said that Ibiono Ibom is the centre of PDP, assuring total victory at the LG polls.

He said the concern of the people of the area is not how to win the LG poll but how to return the governor for a second term in office come 2019.

Member Representing ITU/Ibiono Ibom in the House of Representatives, Dr. Henry Archibong said he knows what Ibiono Ibom can do at the political field and that they will vote PDP massively at the December election.

Obong Paul Ekpo who is the State Chairman of the party said he has seen the hand of God in the party’s LG tour. He said “329/329 and 31/31 for PDP is real.”

Speaking at the event, former Governorship aspirant, Obong Nsima Umoh said PDP will win at the LG polls while Udom will return to Hilltop Mansion come 2019.

Also speaking, Pastor Godwin Udoekong who said he has never been a member of PDP also defected to the party. He said there is no opposition in Ibiono Ibom LGA as he was the face of opposition politics in the LGA.

Also in attendance at the event were Senator Anietie Okon, Mr Akan Okon, former Chairmen of Council including Barr Mfon Udeme, Marcus Okuku and Godwin Ekpo, former Governorship hopefuls Idorenyin Umoh and Abai Nsima Umoh, SAs to the governor and wife of the PDP Publicity Secretary, Barr Sandra-emejuiwe Ini Ememobong.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of flags to the flagbearers of the party.
